MODERN COUNTRY FRENCH
These clients took advantage of our "Full Service Interior Design - Project Manager" service which meant we worked on this project from start to finish taking a total of 2.5 years! Every single inch of this home is completely custom and thought through. We started with a Country French inspiration (mainly on the exterior), but with a modern twist. We wanted to add a touch of the country French inside as well, which is why we added the stone archways. The other inspiration was derived from a "70's ski jacket" which had an embroidered irregular chevron shaped mountain range. That is why you see the chevron shapes throughout. And the clients also loved rock an roll music, especially The Beatles, so you will find hints of their passions throughout (including on the piano).
The flooring design under the dining room table and in the entryway are hand drawn by principal designer Elizabet Yager, and then fabricated out of large format porcelain. Photos of the hand drawings below.
In the kitchen, the waterfall island ends have wood inlays, and black granite inlays into the engineered quartz of the counter tops. This complements the TV wall with 3 different types of stone.
The bookshelves in the formal living room are also porcelain tile, which we cut at an angle and backlit with rope lighting, making the design of the cabinet special in itself.
In the formal living room, the primary bedroom and library nook, we also has a large format porcelain cut into long strip s at 1" wide to inlay as a border around the room.
There is also a mother of pearl peace sign inlaid into the tile over the coffee bar in the primary suite!
The crown molding was a fully custom stack, which we engineered to have a gap between the crown and ceiling so that we could hide rope lighting behind there, for a soft glow around the entire main level.
Most of the furniture in this home is custom, design by our Principal Designer, Elizabeth Yager. The dining room table and chairs are especially special, being that we used one of our best Amish partners to create a 12' long table to accommodate 10 people!
